Hotel MyStays Fukuoka Tenjin

Hotel MyStays Fukuoka Tenjin is a 217-room business hotel operated by Iconia Hospitality (formerly MyStays Hotel Management) in the northern half of Tenjin 3-chome — within sight of Oyafuko-dori, Tenjin's late-night ramen and izakaya street. Tenjin Station on the Kuko Subway Line is a 3–4 minute walk from the property, which means Fukuoka Airport is reachable in under 20 minutes door-to-door on a single direct line — the strongest pitch for travelers prioritising fast airport access. Compared to its 177-room sister property at Tenjin-South (Haruyoshi), this northern location sits closer to the main Tenjin shopping core (PARCO, Tenjin Underground Mall, Mitsukoshi all within 3–5 minutes) and the Tenjin Big Bang business district, at the cost of being farther from the Nakasu yatai. The room footprint is firmly business-hotel compact: Standard Semi-Double at 11–13 m² is strictly for solo travellers, Standard Twin at 15–18 m² is the recommended floor for any guest with a hard-shell suitcase, and select Superior categories add ReFa showerheads and SALONIA hair irons. The complimentary Lavazza coffee machine and DHC amenity bar in the lobby surface in positive reviews as a meaningful step up from generic business hotels at this price point. Honest trade-offs: the modular unit baths are visibly dated and low-ceilinged (uncomfortable for taller guests), and lower-floor rooms facing Oyafuko-dori pick up late-night street noise on weekends — both worth flagging at booking.

Getting there

How to reach the hotel

Practical access routes from the points international travelers actually arrive at — air, train, bus, and indoor walkway.

From Fukuoka Airport (FUK) — Domestic Terminal
Door-to-door in under 20 minutes. Board the Kuko Subway Line at FUK Domestic Terminal and ride five stops (~11 min, ¥260) direct to Tenjin Station — no transfer. Exit 1 or West 1 puts you at the hotel in 3–4 minutes on foot. The single-line connection is one of the cleanest airport approaches of any Tenjin business hotel.
From JR Hakata Station (shinkansen)
Subway Kuko Line from Hakata to Tenjin, two stops, 5 minutes, ¥210, then 3–4 minutes on foot from Exit 1. Walking is unrealistic (~25 min). Taxis from Hakata-guchi west exit run ¥1,000–1,200 and take 8–10 minutes.
From Hakata Bus Terminal (airport limousine / highway bus)
Direct buses from the limousine bus terminal also serve Tenjin Solaria Stage Mae (~15 min), a 4-minute walk from the hotel. Otherwise transfer to the Kuko Line at Hakata Station — same routing as JR arrivals.
From Within Tenjin core
The hotel sits between Tenjin Station and Tenjin-Minami Station, in walking distance of both Nishitetsu Fukuoka (7 min) and the underground mall. Most short-trip movements within Tenjin are done on foot through the shopping arcade and the underground concourse.
Room advice

How to choose your room

Editorial recommendations drawn from aggregated guest reports — the trade-offs that aren't visible on the booking page.

  1. 01
Skip Standard Semi-Double — book Standard Twin (15–18 m²) or Superior categories

Semi-Double rooms at 11–13 m² with a 120 cm bed are engineered for solo business travelers carrying a backpack and a laptop. International leisure travelers with hard-shell suitcases consistently report stepping over luggage and struggling to open a 65L case. The Standard Twin at 15–18 m² and the Superior categories (with ReFa shower heads added) resolve both the floor-space and amenity issues — the price difference is usually ¥1,500–2,500 per night and worth it.

  2. 02
Take the OTA rate over Iconia direct booking — the perks are thin for international visitors

Iconia's direct-booking discount and GoTo Pass loyalty program save roughly ¥500–1,000 per night versus OTAs, and the points only accrue if you stay at the chain's other Japanese properties multiple times a year. For international visitors on a single Fukuoka trip, the OTA loyalty consolidation (Agoda, Booking, Hotels.com) is usually the better economic choice — and the room is identical.

  3. 03
Request an upper-floor room away from Oyafuko-dori if you sleep light

Oyafuko-dori is one of Tenjin's densest late-night drinking streets. Lower-floor rooms facing Oyafuko (north side of the property) pick up bar crowds and occasional sirens past midnight on weekends. The front desk does honour pre-arrival floor preferences when capacity allows.

  4. 04
Lean into the lobby Lavazza machine and DHC amenity bar

The lobby coffee and amenity offering are unusually generous for the price tier and emerge as a recurring positive in OTA reviews — guests who don't notice them on arrival often miss what is effectively a value-add Iconia uses to soften the small-room critique. Treat them as part of the package, not a fringe perk.

Frequently asked

What travelers ask about Hotel MyStays Fukuoka Tenjin

  • Is it noisy at night due to the surrounding neighborhood? +

It can be. The hotel borders Oyafuko-dori, a major nightlife and bar street, so lower-floor rooms facing the main road frequently pick up ambient crowd noise on weekends.

  • Can two people comfortably share a Semi-Double room? +

It depends on your luggage. The Semi-Double rooms are only 11 to 13 square meters with a single 120cm bed, which many Western couples find far too cramped for two people.

  • Is the Tenjin area around Hotel MyStays safe at night? +

Tenjin is Fukuoka's main commercial and entertainment hub — generally safe and well-lit at night. The immediate surroundings include Oyafuko-dori's bar and ramen street, which is lively after 22:00 on weekends. Solo travelers and couples are comfortable in this area; the trade-off is street noise for lower-floor street-facing rooms.

  • Is Hotel MyStays Fukuoka Tenjin suitable for families with children? +

There are no dedicated children's facilities noted for this property. Standard Twin rooms (15–18 m²) are the minimum practical floor for a family; Semi-Double rooms at 11–13 m² do not accommodate two adults with luggage comfortably. The central Tenjin location provides easy access to shopping, dining and transit.

  • Is the breakfast at Hotel MyStays Fukuoka Tenjin worth adding? +

The on-site Japanese/Western breakfast buffet (approximately ¥1,500) runs 7:00–9:30 and features mentaiko, local tofu, and Hakata regional dishes. Reviewer feedback on the breakfast is generally positive for the price level; the Lavazza lobby coffee machine provides a free supplement on early mornings.

  • Does Hotel MyStays Fukuoka Tenjin have a public bath or onsen? +

No — there is no public bath on-site. All rooms have private individual bathrooms (unit baths). Guests seeking a communal bathing experience will need to seek a sento or onsen facility separately.

  • Can I pay with Alipay, WeChat Pay or UnionPay at Hotel MyStays Fukuoka Tenjin? +

Yes — Alipay, WeChat Pay, and UnionPay are accepted alongside Visa, Mastercard, Amex, and JCB.

  • Can I store luggage before check-in or after check-out? +

Yes — luggage hold is available both before check-in and after check-out. Tenjin Station (Kuko Line) is a 3–4 minute walk and offers direct subway access to Hakata Station (5 min) and Fukuoka Airport (14 min).
